Read my blog on firing the new hire here to get more context.

It was after an extended time of second chances and talking about the repercussions of his behaviour.

We had to let go of him.

We were working from home and I wasn’t the one who gave him the news. It was the HR who informed him about us firing him.  So I never got a chance to speak to him face to face or on call.

And I’ll tell you calling a co-worker who you fired is not an easy feat.

My brain kept justifying that i don’t have to call him.

Josh , in fact you gave him a lot of second chances and have been candid with him and afterall covered for him. It’s okay to let it go. Let things be as they are.

But there was the other side of me, who wanted to call him and explain and probably talk some encouraging words.

I was honestly scared.

I mustered the courage and called him.

But he did not pick up 🙁

It’s obvious why.

I see his status about him going through a rough patch.

The thought of me , being a part of it. It sucks

But yeah, life has to move on.

Not everything can and should be justified.

We can’t be Heroes to everyone.

Like it or not, you will become a villain in someone’s life.
