Having a super power is a childhood obsession for everyone. The average Christian is exposed to hearing about it and in many cases has a thing or two experience where it worked. Though momentarily it gives him a elation in his spiritual life. In the course of time, It takes a back seat. Does prayer really help us or is it a relic of the past?

Eye Opener:
In the contemporary  Christendom, strategy , lights and stages seem to be glorified as something that would bring people to Christ with a pinch of prayer added to it. It’s not something we despise or put in the back burner with contempt. For some reason i think we associate long prayers and prayer meetings as relics of the past and boring. But it’s the very essence of the Christian life, I’ve always noticed the power of my small prayers that I do which yielded results in peoples attituded changed while my so called strategies and self effort failed to do. Prayer should be the front line of evangelism backed by strategy and not the other way around. It’s the super power we fail to recognize.

Venting Bag:

Not everything in our lives go as planned. And when it doesn’t who better to blame than the God of the cosmos who should be held accountable for not giving us a pain free life only to find our conscience laying out all the mistakes that we made to be where we are. Isn’t that a hard pill to swallow? Where do you vent when you know that you are the problem and also partially God. Because isn’t he supposed to somehow guide me to take good decisions, even though i willfully protest his suggestions.  Where do I vent out my frustrations without judgement? Where do I vent out my anger on myself? Where do I went out when the only response is going to be I understand? Isn’t it at the feet of the God who created the cosmos?

Shot at Miracles:

When all seems lost and there is no logical hope where do we fall back to? What would be our one last chance of hope itself? It’s a prayer. This one last shot has come in handy for me a dozen times. And at the same time this one last shot hasn’t come in handy a dozen times to and when it doesn’t , I throw my hands up and say, Maybe not your will. But I sure am taking the shot when ever I could. Because what else would I have? In some sense maybe, Prayer is a good thing, Maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Because Prayer represents HOPE. Prayer then is the super power that can give me a shot to go beyond the natural and make an attempt at the supernatural.

Dirt Revealer:
What better place to reveal your own hypocrisy than prayer? I have found myself starting to pray for those who wronged against me and for me to fend them of only to be reminded on how I could’ve responded better and the shortcoming on my part which makes a shift in my attitude. Prayer helps me remind the same person I hate is a handy made piece that God created and loves.

Prayer is not a relic of the past and never will be. It indeed is the super power given to every Christian who has for the most part been deceived that it’s boring or as something that doesn’t always work.
