There are many definitions of leadership.

Some say, Leadership is influence, others say leadership is about attitude. There isn’t an end to these plethora of definitions. But the one that stuck to me the most was the that leadership is simply moving a person from one place to another place.

Any leader good or bad does this.

Hitler moved Germany as a nation from a bad place to a good place and right back to the worst place. But he for sure moved people and the country. He moved their ideology more towards anti-Semitism and facism. Hitler here is a negative conatation of a leader. But he’s a leader who moved people and an entire nation.

Good leader move people to a better place. Martin Luther King moved people towards unity , love Nd freedom. He foresaw – Saw a dream further away and started moving the people of a county in that direction.

All leaders move a person from Point A to Point B

And these places where they move them are usually not foreseen by the person who is being moved.

For example , an upcoming talented young man, who still hasn’t realised his potential is picked up and challenged to lead a small group by a older leader who recognises his potential. Here, the older leader is moving the young lad to a better place which the young lad himself hasn’t seen.

In this definition of leadership, all of us are leaders, we are always moving someone or the other , either in our workplace or church or family knowingly or unknowingly. What if we become intentional about those moves and make sure we move people to a better place? It would radically change the world.
