The clouds were heavy. But i had to go to work today. I knew it was going to rain. But sacrificing the raincoat that I had to my sister after a few fierce exchanges with my sister, i took my scooter grumbling and started to going to work.
And as expected it started to rain heavily and I had to halt and take shelter in a nearby flower shop. It kept raining longer than expected. I started to sqirm , balancing myself on each leg. All the while the shop keeper who looked like a villager kept doing his job and I kept doing mine in the phone , ringing up and telling my boss I’d be late for work.
All of a sudden I heard the shop keeper call me and say “Ukariya pa” (want to sit in the chair) , It made my day. I don’t know if I would do the same to a stranger who was standing to get shelter from the rain. I would think, I’m already doing him a favour by allowing him to take shelter in my shop. The unknown shop keeper who was a villager showed me love. Would I receive the same if I stood behind a corporate chain? No way.
What am I trying to say?
Show love. It would make someone’s day.
And small businesses have something more than the large chains, the personal touch
